A few details about personal watercraft insurance
In the event of a total loss, if your watercraft is less than 5 years old, you will receive the amount that was determined in your contract. If your watercraft is more than 5 years old, the process is different: your compensation will be equal to the market value of your watercraft at the time of the loss.
Loss of use
This amount may apply to the rental of a watercraft following an incident covered by your insurance. The replacement watercraft will be of the same type and size. This amount will be specified in your contract.
Has your watercraft ever broken down due to running out of fuel or a mechanical failure? Emergency towing to the nearest point for repairs or refueling may be covered. This amount may reach $2,500. Note: in the case of a claim that is already covered, these towing costs are automatically reimbursed.
Is my equipment protected?
Your personal watercraft insurance can cover your sports equipment. It can be insured for an amount ranging from $1000 to $5000.
What does liability cover?
It will cover bodily injury or property damage that may be caused to others while using your watercraft. It may also cover costs caused by a pollution incident. It must be a direct result of a risk covered by your policy. All these issues should be discussed with your insurance broker.
Is rodent damage covered?
Coverage is available for damage caused by rodents, as well as zebra mussel infestations.
